It is what it promises, but not really worth the price

The book is exactly as advertised, "Written specifically for managers with little or no formal information technology training or expertise." It is very elementary. If you have worked in a moderate to large company, with decent IT resources, you probably know most of what's in this book. We used this text in an "IT for Managers" class I took and I probably could have winged it without the book and saved my money. This book should really be in the $25-$50 range, not $80+.

Definitely Worth The Money

This is the FAA handbook which is found on their website put into print in a book. It is exactly the same and the book is very professionally made. It is a good size with a good sized font and clear color copies. While some people point out that it can be obtained for free on the FAA's website, that's not really true as it is not in print. So you either need to read it straight from their website or print it out. But if you decide to print it out, it will NOT come out to be free at all. Before purchasing this book, I printed out the FAA handbook and was later sorry I did that rather than just buy this book for this price. I ended up spending more money on black and color printer ink, paper, and a binder than what this book cost. It was also a lot of work printing almost 400 pages and then punching holes into all of them to put into the binder. The binder also ended up being much thicker, bulkier, heavier, more inconvenient to carry around and less professional. So buying this book is definitely worth it as it will save money, time, work and will be much better quality than a printout the FAA handbook.

This book has great color graphics and diagrams for basic instrument training. make sure you buy copy that was printed by asa. Their logo(wings) is on cover upper left . Other version is black and white graphics, and blurry text. This one is awsome

Terrific. Buy it!

I've been self-teaching myself for about 2 years now. In that time, I've collected several books that say "For Beginners" somewhere in the title. Most leave me staring dumbfounded at the pages (or screen). They all seem to be written by guitar aficionados for guitar aficionados. If you're not Steve Vai, forget it.
This one, though, is a bit different. I've been able to grasp what the author is saying easily and right away. Maybe because the author's first language isn't English, I don't know. It's very plainly written with the goal of teaching you how to play.
I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn about playing - especially if these other so called beginner books leave you scratching your head.

Great instructional book

Really great book. I 've been teaching myself guitar for sometime now and purchased it mostly for the music theory. It helped me understand how scales and chords are built and how to combine them to improvise over tracks or write songs. Besides that, it contains tons of valuable information about pretty much everything a rock player will ever need, advanced scales and chords and their practical use, modes, techniques, exercises etc to keep you busy for a long time. Very easy to follow, and the videos are really helpful.

High-Level QB's Consultant

I am a high-level QuickBooks consultant and love everything about QuickBooks. I study the Sleeter manuals carefully, and read them just for fun! These consultant manuals cover problems, tips, and techniques I've never seen anywhere else, but they are generally not for a novice user. I challenge myself to have QB's answers at all times to whomever may ask, and I usually do have the answers thanks to these texts.

Not only is the product fantastic, in depth and very well done, but the support I received from everyone at the company is some of the best I've ever seen, in any industry. Robert's Rules at Your Fingertips

I am a member of a formal group that meets every month, and because we are formal group, we follow formal rules for the meeting portion of our monthly gathering. Invariably we get a little confused about what is supposed to happen when, how to implement motions and votes, etc. Robert’s Rules of Order in Action is a great little resource and reference book for us. The original Robert’s Rules of Order is huge and cumbersome; it’s difficult to find what you’re looking for quickly. But this little one is small, fits easily into our things (we meet at different places so we have to take all of our stuff with us monthly), and it makes us extremely efficient when we’re trying to follow formal meeting rules. If you need the essential rules for meetings, motions, debates or voting at your fingertips, this book should do the trick.

I didn't expect this book to be as interesting of a read as it turned out to be. With nonfiction works such as this, I typically dive in expecting to be slightly bored, yet informed, but that was not the case at all with this book. As a matter of fact, I received more than just the typical "dos" and "don'ts" from this guide; I was interested from cover to cover. That in itself impressed me.

This book covers several different aspects of holding public and private meetings, whether among a group as small as a family or a group as large as congress. It touches on many different topics including why rules of order are important and in which situations they may (and should be) used. From how to start a meeting to how to refine a decision, this book includes it all. Below are several of the main topics the book discusses:

Starting a meeting
How to behave in a meeting
Calling a meeting to an end/recess
Making proposals
Debating
Refining a decision
Democratic process
Voting
Leadership

The book also features examples and a small section at the end that covers what to say, when to say it, and how to say it.

Overall, this is a book chock-full of useful information that may be applied to several different areas of your life.

This book really has a lot of helpful information in it

I am not good when it comes to speaking with people. I get tongue tied and embarrassed real easy. That makes it really difficult sometimes when applying for jobs or having an important conversations with Dr's and schools which isn't good because sometimes I will just agree with them instead of standing up and stating my point. This book talks about ways to start and communicate in meetings or clubs. I love that it has "practice" meetings that you can read to get an idea of what to say and how to say it. That has helped me a lot when it comes to my sons IEP meetings that I have to go to. I no longer feel like we have to do things the way they want they want to because now I know how to talk in the meeting and be able to discuss all of the options that will help my son. This book really has a lot of helpful information in it and although at first I didn't think I would be interested in reading this book, I am glad I did because it has really made a difference in the way I handle meetings. I received this product as a sample to test and review. This review is solely my opinion. The I information I provided is what I experienced.

A Perfect Gift For A Mandala Enthusiast

I bought this calender for my mother requested desk calendar for Christmas. This year she has just got into Mandala coloring. I thought this might be a good fit.

I was impressed when it arrived the pictures are nice and big as well.as the boxes for each day are a nice size.

My mother was so.very excited. It was a much bigger hit then I.even hoped it would be. I would recommend this calendar to others.

Fun to color at work

I've recently gotten into the adult coloring trend for times when my usual acrylic painting isn't practical. This calendar is great for work and relaxing during my lunch break. I only gave it 4 stars because the front cover says something about "stabilizing corner pockets" to keep the pages flat. What pockets?? This appears to be just a traditional paper pad. Also, I didn't see the Notes section in the back until a couple months after I started coloring.. I'm not sure how useful that is hiding back there rather than on the page with the actual monthly calendar.

Poor quality- would not purchase again

Most of the designs do not have the complete outlines- the line drawings could certainly have used more attention. Before coloring, I had to go back and fill in black lines where they were missing so I had well-defined blocks to color in.
Also, the pad I received only had ONE of its advertized corner guard pieces, despite being wrapped in plastic wrap before being shipped.
Thirdly, the paper is of poor weight for coloring with markers. You would definitely need to keep a few extra pages between the current month and subsequent pages to prevent bleed through.

Now here’s a relatively new and fast expanding area of the law – and here’s a book that will be of special interest to international lawyers, particularly those who deal with investment treaties, or are contemplating doing so. As a result of the relatively recent increase in such treaties and arbitral decisions, ‘the law of investment treaties’ has come to be recognized as a new branch of international law:

The author, Jeswald A. Salacuse, Professor of Law at Tufts University in Massachusetts – and Diplomacy at Tufts University -- mentions that approximately 3,300 investment treaties have been created since the end of World War II, with new agreements emerging almost monthly from diplomatic negotiations -- clearly a phenomenon resulting from increasing globalization and the consequent globalization of business.

Published by the Oxford University Press as part of the Oxford International Law Library, the new second edition of this highly regarded work examines every conceivable aspect of investment treaties. Fundamentally, however, the investment treaty does two things. First, it grants special protective rights to foreign investors. Secondly, it allows investors to enforce those rights, usually by international arbitration.

The main motivation behind the investment treaty is that investors and their home countries wish to protect themselves from political risk. The author also makes the point that the applicable investment law is founded on treaties. This means that the distinct features of the investment treaty differentiate it from ‘the customary international law of investment.’

Investment treaties have been transformative in that, as is discussed in this book, they have emerged as the fundamental tool by which two countries will create a treaty which sets down rules governing investments by their respective nationals in each other’s countries. NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement is an example.

In the words of the author, the book aims to ‘examine investment treaties of all varieties in a comprehensive and integrated fashion.’ It therefore embarks on a close examination and analysis of the law of international investment treaties, specifically in relation to their origins, structure, content, and effect, as well as their impact on international investors and investments, and on governments that are parties to them.

The numerous topics examined range from general standards of treatment of foreign investments, to monetary transfers; protection against expropriation; dispossession and compensation for losses; the various forms of dispute settlement -- and of course, much more, including a new chapter on the consequences of treaty violations and the determination of damages in investor-state disputes.

With its extensive footnoting, detailed table of contents, index, tables of cases and conventions, treaties and agreements, this book excels as a valuable source of reference for researchers, academics, government officials, arbitrators and diplomats, as well as international lawyers. In fact, anyone even remotely involved in this area of law should acquire a copy.

Edward Peter Stringham is the Davis Professor of Economic Organizations and Innovation at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut. Stringham is president of the Society for the Development of Austrian Economics, former president of the Association of Private Enterprise Education, editor of the Journal of Private Enterprise, editor of two books, and author of more than sixty journal articles, book chapters, and policy studies. His work has been discussed on more than 100 broadcast stations, including CBS, CNBC, CNN, Fox, Headline News, NPR, and MTV.

How Is Order Created? NOT BY GOVERNMENT.

Do you think that only the state can create a market exchange? How is eBay like the Amsterdam Bourse? Do you believe that derivatives are a modern financial tool? Then prepare to learn. Ed Stringham weaves case studies in storytelling ways. He not only answers the above questions masterfully, but also makes the persuasive case that markets precede governments, markets help make people moral, and situations are more difficult just because of government.

A New Masterwork of Anarcho-Libertarian Thought

A masterwork, which will take its place in the canon of Anarcho-Libertarian thought, and which people will be referring to throughout the ages. A thorough and cogent examination of the relative merits of private justice, with a fascinating review of private justice systems throughout history, which has the power to advance conversations of these issues.

My sole complaint about the book is directed at Oxford University Press -- Why is the print so excruciatingly small? The manner in which this book is printed makes it very difficult to read, and if the content were not so fascinating might have led me to put it down. Please do a better job on subsequent printing. This material deserves a thicker volume.
