The best reference manual for home inspectors I've ever found.

This is the book that home inspectors have wanted someone to write. It is perfect for the person wanting to pass a licensing test and for the practicing inspector (like me) who needs more background info. on a defect we find. Barker writes just like we inspectors do in our reports. He describes things with the correct terms and delves into the history of a particular defect and tells the reader why the defect needs to be fixed or monitored. He also tells you what most home inspectors do and what things lie out-of-scope.
Reading this book, I am amazed at how much we must know and how complex our work is. I appreciate Barker's academic level of knowledge, his researching the current and past Codes and his way of reminding us how building science and building practices have changed. Barker is the author of the excellent technical articles for the past several years in The ASHI Reporter magazine. This book is truly encyclopedic, up to date, and well worth the cost.

Very informative and serves as a great resource to prepare for the exam. It contains detailed images that are a very useful reference. It shipped quickly as well.
