The uniforms are brought to life in this book.

This excellent and meticulously researched overview of military uniforms worn by Allied and Axis fighting men (including accessories, kit and weapons) during the Second World War gives unique insight into the practicality and function, as well as design philosophy, of the various uniforms produced by the United States, United Kingdom, France, Poland, Belgium, Italy, Germany, and Japan. Details relating to comfort, fit, and practicality are brought to life using actual items used or produced during the war. Many uniform features otherwise unrecognizable in black and white photos and movies are illustrated and explained here in this book in depth and detail. In particular, I appreciated the pages devoted to the uniforms worn in North Africa by the British Army and French Foreign Legion soldiers. Looking through this book is just as good as going to see the uniforms collection at the Imperial War Museum. This book was very well done.

This is a re-release.

This is a fine little book, but it is just a re-release of World War II Infantry: In Colour Photographs (Europa Militaria, 2) Paperback – October, 1999. Europa Militaria released a series of these little gems in the Nineties. They covered World Wars I and II, as well as the Vietnam War. Their format was excellent, with a full-page pair of color photos of the soldier's front and back on the right-hand page, and his silhouette with numbered call-outs on the left. The left-hand page also had a concise summary of the uniform. It is really a great feat of packaging, with a great deal of pertinent knowledge tucked into a slim paperback volume. It left me wishing that other publications on uniforms would use the same format.
My only objection is that this series is being sold as if it were a set of new publications. The unwary might waste their money on this reprint.
