A Great Start!

I love this book, it's great for beginners and adults, needing a refresher. This will come in handy for me as a homeschooling parent when I need to start teaching Algebra, which was not my strong suit in high school. I opened this book and just a couple pages in, it says, "You are awesome" which is just the boost someone mildly frightened by math needs to see! Once I started going through it, it all started coming back to me. I highly recommend this book for people just learning or relearning Algebra.

Takes the fear out of Algebra!

I was so excited to get this for my daughter going into the 9th grade. She was nervous about the whole Algebra thing! Midway thru , she turned to me and said "Wow! This is easy! " She loved how colorful the examples were and how "simple" in easy to understand terms the problems were shown. This book has taken the fear factor out of Algebra and has shown that it is nothing to be afraid of. Thanks so much for creating such a usable and student friendly book!

This book is broken down into easy to follow sections. Not only are definitions available but many options for examples are offered. My 6 year old understood and could follow the concept of this book. I would love to have part 2 as well. I feel April has done an amazing job to make Algebra easy to understand. Its not a cheat way-its an actual way of learning and the perfect foundation for Geometry. Algebra 2 and Pre Calculus and Calculus.

Easy Genealogy Guide

This book is a really good guide to genealogy research. It gave really clear step by step guidance on how to search through your family history. The book also covers some issues when researching genealogy, such as blocks or lack of information. I like how the book discusses how to properly keep records, and differences in record keeping between countries. It also discusses how you should back up all information found with documents which is very wise. I found the guide very useful, and would recommend it to others. There is much more information in it, and it is simple to read.

Why I leave it to my sister...

am not the genealogist of the family, that's my sister's things. But I've heard her say again and again that "You have to have written evidence," and this book agrees. The book also reminds you not to assume anecdotes are true and that there are historical assumptions we make that simply aren't true. If you go through all of the types of records this book suggests your search will be exhaustive and thorough and hopefully provide you with the family information you're seeking.

About the Author
As a convert to Christianity from Hinduism, Bishop K.C. Pillai came to the Western world on a singular mission: to teach the Eastern culture of the Bible. God called Pillai to reveal these Biblical truths he called Orientalisms. At the time of the Bishop’s early life, his native India had remained an isolated country for thousands of years. Therefore, the customs and manners of the people were still aligned with the Eastern, Biblical culture. For over twenty years, Bishop Pillai taught these Orientalisms, bringing great enlightenment to the Christian world. His crusade of imparting this light of the Eastern Culture carried him to numerous universities and seminaries, as well as every major denomination throughout the United States, England and Canada. Still today, his teachings remain the foremost authority on the rare gems of Biblical customs and culture. Pillai’s conversion to Christianity is a witness of God’s heart, as well as a lesson in one of the most significant Eastern customs found in the Bible. The Bishop was raised as a Hindu. When a Hindu child of the ruling class is born, a little salt is rubbed on the baby who is then wrapped in swaddling cloth. This custom invoked one of the oldest and strongest covenants in the Eastern world, the “salt covenant.” In this particular instance, the child was salted for a lifetime of dedication to the Hindu religion. The “salt covenant” is used in like manner throughout the Bible to seal the deepest commitment. As a result of the salt covenant it is difficult for Hindus to convert to Christianity. When they do, their family actually conducts a funeral service to symbolize that the individual is dead to their family, the community and Hinduism. Their family will carry a portrait of the “deceased” to the cemetery and bury it. Many times Bishop spoke of his “burial day” when he was disinherited by becoming a Christian; the only Hindu willing to break that covenant of salt in his community during that time. Pillai answered God’s call and served as Bishop of North Madras in the Indian Orthodox Church. Sent on a special mission to the United States, he spent the last twenty years of his life acquainting Christians with the Orientalisms of the Bible. The interest Pillai generated in the field has led to numerous further studies by other scholars in the field of manners and customs in the Bible, as well. His books and teachings continue to illuminate and inspire students of the Bible throughout the world.

Very good, but...

This book has very good background to give clarity to Scripture. The only problem is that the author puts in his private allegory, which is a big no no when studying Scripture. But, don't let that stop you. This is a book well worth having
