About the Author
John Jefferson Davis is Professor of Systematic Theology and Chair of the Division of Christian Thought at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts.
Dr. Davis (PhD, Duke University) is the author of several well-known books, including Theology Primer; Foundations of Evangelical Theology; Evangelical Ethics: Issues Facing the Church Today; Frontiers of Science and Faith; Worship and the Reality of God; and Meditation and Communion with God, as well as numerous articles in scholarly journals.
He and his wife have five children and six grandchildren, and live in Hamilton, Massachusetts.

A decent work by a well-known evangelical theologian. I remember having him in class.
I would say, though, that the cutting-edge analytic philosophy of mind he engages (and which is exciting to see) is highly under-developed and outdated. He notes one article by Chalmers and Andy Clark from 1998, on the extended mind. Since 1998, there is so much literature by Clark himself, but by many others, on extended mind, extended cognition and embodied mind (think of Thompson's Mind in Life or Clark's Supersizing the Mind, or furthermore, a host of articles by Shaun Gallagher who is at the Univ of Memphis). A much needed "philosophical turn" needs to occur in so-called evangelical theology if it is to continue to gain a readership, and Davis could "extend" this turn.
